She CAN Be Taught!!!

OK, last poop update- I promise. I took a friend's advice and put Dee's little potty in her room at naptime. Dee was in underpants, as I reminded her about fifty times. No accidents all morning. I also left her bedroom door open. She got about 5 minutes into naptime when she decided she needed to go. She climbed out of bed (I was eavesdropping like mad on her baby monitor), took off the underpants, pooped in the potty, pulled her undies back up, and even took out the little drawer part of the potty that you take and dump into the big toilet. She was on her way out of her room with the drawer when I arrived.

No accidents all afternoon, either. We were eating the celebratory alphabet shaped pancakes I made for dinner when she peed all over her chair.

Well, we're getting there.

I hope I didn't curse you by referring to pee in my last comment!

Oh, the fun of potty training!

Ok, how does this work? I suck at the commenting thing for a few weeks and you throw up all these posts? Slow down sister!

Ugh, I can't wait until the potty training thing. Bad enough that P stuck her finger in her poo-filled nappy the other day, pulled it out, and said, "Yuck". No shit kid. No shit. In so many ways...

Thanks for the encouragement and sharing your story with me. I just read back through some of your older posts. Holy wow, you have been through everything and the kitchen sink when it comes to pregnancies! I am so glad everything turned out okay, and that everyone is doing well now. I hate to bring up old stuff, but you are the first person I have come across to have survived a embolus of that nature. I'm a CRNA and if you see one or two in your career that is unusual. That is both extremely rare and ususally doesn't have the best outcome -but I don't have to tell you that! Anyways, thanks again for your insight and encouragement. Hearing stories with good outcomes makes me feel a lot better. I hope you and your family are doing well. And I do follow city girls site, but I'll have to look back to her bedrest days. Thanks again!

thanks for coming by my blog. 7 weeks on the mag! I am terrified of that stuff. Have not had to have it... yet. I think I am more scared of it than a c-section.

I have been on the nifedipine for six weeks already. Managing break throughs with the terb. Once with Indomethacin.

Thanks for stopping by - as far as the not getting up on the Mag - well that's up to your doc and how you're responding to it, and what dose they are running your drip at. If you are on the lower dose - most docs will let you get up to pee at least if you're stable on your feet. But if you're contracting a lot - they won't let you get up since they think you will contract more, also on the higher drip rates ( or if you've gotten bolused) most people are not able to ambulate well, and they have a foley cathetar anyways to monitor hourly urine output to make sure you're not at risk for things like pulmonary edema. First time i was on it - they let me get after the bolus and when I was on the lower rate to pee at least. But after a few hours they had to increase the rate since i was still contracting every few minutes. By then I couldn't even lift my legs let alone walk. So I think they treat it kind of on a case by case basis. Kind of like the clear liquids or being nothing by mouth. My poor friend's OB didn't even let her have ice - and I've at least had clear liquids the whole time like Jello and apple juice. But I know what you mean - different things different places. Hope you're doing well :-)

Thanks for dropping by and leaving such encouraging words. And you are so right on people telling you to "take advantage of the rest." My sister got all snarky with me when I told her I would rather have an infant at home than be stuck in bedrest hell. She thought I was nuts!?!?!?

Anyhow, knowing there are people like me, who have had healthy kids, even if early, is so reassuring.

So thank you.
